Oil Portraits of Carousel Horses

I've always loved carousels - those haunting echoes of another era. I've had the privilege of designing an original carousel from scratch (for Shanghai Disney Resort), as well as vehicles for other round rides. I'm fascinated with how the horses are frozen in motion, with expressions of terror or exhaustion from their frantic ride. I chose this hyper-realistic style to highlight the juxtaposition between stillness and motion, and to tap into the carver's original love of detail and craftsmanship.
