In 2012, I was going through a tough time in my personal life. I decided to paint a series of angels. The beings that came out in my work didn’t wear haloes. They were fierce and scary, and they were just want I needed to get through that time.
I was also in grad school, getting my MFA in Illustration, so the creative juices were flowing. I started to experiment with combining oil and digital painting. I’d start with an oil painting “sketch,” which I scanned into Photoshop and painted or collaged until it looked right, then I printed that out and finished it in oil.
