Anyone can paint a classical portrait–really!
Using the classical technique of indirect oil painting, you will build up a portrait in layers. The painting starts with a grey value study to establish the form. Subsequent layers build up color, until the final portrait shines through in all its colorful glory. Every student I’ve taken through this process is amazed on the last day.
Every lesson contains a video either explaining the concepts I’m teaching, or demonstrating how to paint something. The accompanying guidebook, which you can download, accompanies the video lessons to enhance your knowledge. It gives valuable history, techniques, lessons, a materials list, resources for further learning, and inspiration.
